About Us

The Zimbabwe Cultural Society of Alberta (ZCUSA) is a non-profit organization incorporated in 2004 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The organization is led by a board of directors with diverse expertise, knowledge and experience. The directors are elected and appointed from the membership. Membership is open to everyone who subscribes to the objectives of the organization. Current membership includes individuals, private and corporate business, volunteers who assist with various activities undertaken by the organization. 

Its main objectives are:

  • To promote awareness and involvement in activities (employment, self-employment, investments, and education) by members of the Zimbabwean community in Alberta and grassroots communities in Zimbabwe to promote self reliance, self sufficiency and empowerment.
  • To provide a forum for Zimbabweans and all who are interested in Zimbabwe to exchange ideas and share experiences.
  • To establish and maintain educational, cultural and information resources on Zimbabwe.
  • To promote understanding and cooperation among Zimbabweans and their friends.
  • To take a coordinating/mobilizing  role in assisting members of the Association who may encounter a calamity or unforeseen financial hardship e.g. as a result of death, injury, illness).
  • To promote social, cultural, and recreational needs of the members and their friends through participation in various community programs.
  • To teach about Zimbabwean culture, languages, values, way of life.
  • To be involved in fundraising and voluntary activities for the benefit of disadvantaged communities and/or community members.
